Jay Z and Kanye’s BFF, Gwyneth Paltrow, tweeted about their song, “Ni**as In Paris” earlier this week writing, “Ni**as In Paris for real.” Of course, this tweet put the twitterverse in an uproar because it questions if white people are able to use the racial slur and mean something different then the oppressive and racist meaning that has been associated with the term throughout history. Despite your personal answer to the above mentioned question, this tweet should have never happened but then again, Jay and Kanye should have never titled their hit song “Ni**as in Paris” so Gwyneth isn’t the only one to blame.
Personally, I’m sick of hearing people (white, black and otherwise) throw around the N word in multiracial environments like Emmett, Rosa, Lena Baker, James Byrd Jr. and all those who came before us never lived. I don’t care if it ends in an “er” or a “ga”, if you feel the need to say it, a multiracial environment is NOT the place. Either way, as always, when “family” invites people in our home and makes a mess we have to gladly escort our guests out and clean up. So, Gwyn, there’s the door. Have a nice day.
